The department of Economics is one of the oldest departments in our college which is established in 1972-73. The Department was upgraded to a postgraduate department in the year 2012-2013. The department has a fine blend of faculty members with specialization in various areas of discipline in Economics. Ten faculty members have doctorate degrees and four of them are pursuing for the same. The course has Tamil and English medium with sanctioned strength of 40 students in each class and later evening classes were established in 1977 with the strength of 50 students.
